I actually started out wanting to just do a simplest look possible, but I realise noobie me was so successful at it that I had to camwhore, and *ahhem* pardon me, but need show off my blogging best buddy - Sony HX9V.
After reading Paris B's post on her Canon DSLR (do read the comments under her post, because they are really cute and informative. haha.), I thought I need to credit my little black box here, because in the sometimes lonely world of blogging (because I don't know anyone in real life who shares this same interest as me), it is my best companion, sharing the memories, the good times and the bad.
High-end compacts are so immensely understated, as no matter how good they are, no matter how much manufacturers push and push the limits of compacts, they can't seem to outdo the big brother DSLRs.
It is an understatement because while you can easily pack punch into DSLRs, and people don't mind the bulk and/or weight, creators the world over have to crack their brains to pack punch into compacts and mind the bulk and weight! It is an art in itself, the masterpieces and Science babies of camera manufacturers.
=P Yes, I was seriously camwhoring. But that's because this camera just can't help taking great pictures this easily! It's *click *click *click, and you get something good, no regrets.
Anyway, I'm not saying DSLR is not good. It definitely has greater capacity. haha, but one has got to know one's own photography character, and get a best fit buddy cam, which I posted about way back in 2010 here. And for someone who enjoys the shooting part more still, HX9V is kind of buddy. =DD
And that was when I realised that I've got matching nails to my lipstick!!! hahaha, great!
Apart from portraits, all the beautiful photos of scenaries you see in my USS posts are from this black buddy.
Okay, move on to the FOTD before I show the final shots of camwhoring. I basically did this because I was feeling the lethargy of all the Christmas play, and from my week-long vacation. Yes, like many will know, vacations are actually tiring though psychologically fulfilling.
The idea was to get simple, good and fast. So all I did was work with an eye quad, and my nude makeup.
I used to go for strong colours, but now, after starting work, I realise I do want to have days that are really just normal, and I don't want to stand out so much, because I am not walking on Orchard Road, where the whole world is dressed well, and one generally needs more to look unique.
Nude is really great for making the "I am normal" look.
The items are used are the standard ones from my stash:
- Majolica Majorca Eye Quad in PK 383 Pink for eyeshadow
- Maybelline Gel Liner for eye liner and shading my brows (haha, yes, use the remaining black pigments to shade in the brows is really great! Less wastage, strong, lasting colour.
- Bourjois Blush Sculpting Duo Effect in 05 Warm Pink/Golden Skintone for cheeks
- M.A.C Liberty of London Cremesheen in Ever Hip for lips
- Benefit Sugarbomb swept lightling over nose, T-zone and chin to highlight
I realise that because the gel liner applicator is a brush, I could actually shade in my brows better! I have always been adversed to using brush and eyeshadow or powdered brow colours because I thought it's difficult. Hmmm, I think I may experiment brushing in my brows more often, instead of sticking stubbornly to brow pencils.
haha, sweeping sugarbomb over to highlight was a surprisingly good last minute decision that I made.
I used Sugarbomb on my eyelids the other day, and it gave an instant perk to my eyes, because Sugarbomb is inherently multi-coloured and high luster finish. It makes things pop!
I use the Sugarbomb brush so much that all I needed to do was use leftover powder for eyelids or for highlighting! No need to dip in the blush.
Alright, last one,
Anyone uses gel liner on their brows too? Anyone using Sugarbomb as highlighter? Anyone happy with great compacts?
haha, I actually haven't really talked about MM eye quads though I own so many. And the Bourjois Duo Effect is slightly new, salesperson says the duo-packaging is limited too... ... So you may want to check it out.
Yours truly,
PosiNice
